Colonel JASON R. HALVORSEN

Colonel Jason R. Halvorsen is the Commander, Air National Guard Air Force Reserve Command Test Center (AATC), Tucson AZ. He leads a Total Force test center with over 260 National Guard, Reserve, Active, Civilian, and government support contract personnel. He is responsible for planning, coordinating, and conducting operational and developmental test and evaluation for mature weapons systems as directed by the Air National Guard (ANG), Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC), Air Combat Command (ACC), Air Mobility Command (AMC), and Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC). Colonel Halvorsen advises the Director of the Air National Guard and the Commander of the Air Force Reserve Command on modernization, testing, and tactics development to increase the combat capability across the breadth of their operational systems.

Col Halvorsen was commissioned in November 2001 upon graduation from the Academy of Military Science, Knoxville, Tennessee. He completed Undergraduate Pilot Training at Columbus Air Force Base, Mississippi in February 2003 and F-16 training at Luke Air Force Base, Arizona. He was then assigned to the Atlantic City Air National Guard holding a variety of squadron and wing positions as an F-16 Instructor Pilot. Col Halvorsen is a graduate of the United States Air Force Weapons School and was the Chief of Wing Weapons from 2012-2015. Prior to his current position, Col Halvorsen was the Chief of Operational Requirements, National Guard Bureau, Joint Base Andrews, Maryland. In this position, Col Halvorsen led advanced modernization efforts across the National Guard’s 1100 combat, mobility, and special mission aircraft, supporting 10 unified commands and the domestic response capability needs for 90 Air National Guard Wings covering 54 states and territories.

Col Halvorsen is a command pilot with more than 2,200 flying hours including more than 150 combat hours in two deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
